Friday fun link

When I was a kid, my neighbor had The Dark Tower electronic boardgame. I loved that game, despite the fact that it its core it was a very simple luck-based game. I’m not alone in my nostalgia for the game though – a complete copy of it sells for as much as $300 on ebay these days. More to the point though, fans have recreated the gameplay, in the form of a flash version of the game and an offline java version. Not sure if you’d like to play? Go read a few reviews on the boardgamegeek.com site.

You’d be a wealthy man if you did. Actually I have a functioning tower from the game, just the tower but not the rest of it. A former roomate left it when he moved out – he had an entire copy of the game, it was in crappy condition but it all worked. He forgot the tower when he moved out (along with a bunch of other stuff) and since he owed me 2 months rent when he bailed, I kept it 😉

Sometimes I think about selling it off on ebay. Since I don’t have the rest of the game it’s not really worth anything to me, but on the other hand I figure it’s just going to continue going up in value, so I’ve been hanging onto it for the last 3-4 years.
