Slick new alternative to DVDs?

I am borrowing a DVD drive from work to play around with. So far it’s ok, sort of a pain in the ass though. Writing 4.7 gigs of data to a disc takes a long time is the unfortunate bottom line. But what if there was something better, like for example credit-card sized 5 gig hard drives that sold for $15? It seems too good to be true, but they’re supposed to ship in the second half of this year so we’ll see. The technology certainly seems promising.

This is extremely cool. Man, backing up data would be a snap. Cheap too. And talk about data exchange! This will facilitate much swapping of hunormous amounts of mp3’s. People with the readers will swap cards full of tunes, and other stuff. Probably even see people selling the cards full of stuff.
All in all, this is one of the cooler things I have seen lately.
    But, does it vibrate?

Dude I will be sending you cards full of movies in no time πŸ˜‰

5 gigs is enough to fit an almost DVD quality movie including 5.1 sound. Or 3 movies of slightly better than VHS quality. Tuneage wise, we will be swappin the world’s library of music in a decade or so, it amazes me.
