Sum of all Fears doesn’t add up to much

Yeah, ok. So it’s a cheesy headline, but I couldn’t resist. My dad used to take such pride in wordplay like this, back when he was working on the editorial desk at Newsday.

Anyway…the movie adaptation of Tom Clancy’s ‘The Sum of all Fears’ isn’t a bad movie, it’s not all that good either though. Ben Affleck is no Jack Ryan is the main problem, well that and the plot is very predictable and not particularly engaging. They tried to market this as a sort of action film which it most definitely is not, it’s a spy thriller that’s not very thrilling. Slo-mo shots of Ben Affleck running down a burning street? That’s not action, that’s schmaltzy ‘rub your face in it’ nonsense from the director. We get it, we get it, he’s very heroic and stuff. But can we please have some real action now?

I’m rambling. My point? Don’t bother with this one unless it comes on cable when you’re stuffed in a chair half asleep channel surfing, chances are you’ll nod off while it’s playing anyway.

New photo albums posted

I posted a bunch of new photo albums over the weekend. I haven’t had a chance to add captions and descriptions to all of them yet, but the photos are all up. There are shots of the Christening I went to in MA a few weeks ago, photos of the trip to NY, the pumpkin Samantha and I carved at Halloween, and of Thanksgiving supper this past weekend.

They’re mostly of interest to the family but check em out if you’re interested. Use the Gallery link at the top of the page to see them.

Oh, and I’ll post shots of Samantha’s birthday party sometime later this week.
